Aromatic Self-Esteem

“He who looks forward dreams;
he who looks inwards wakes up” Jung

For the last two decades I have overcome my visual impairment, and coped with the “judging a book by its’ cover” preconceived  views of our society, when it comes to communicating and dealing with those of us, who have a physical challenges is not outwardly obvious as is the case of a visual or auditory proficiency.

Being treated as a lesser human can bring forward the enlightened warrior, fighting back positive attitude which leads to a search for personal growth and self improvement, to achieve a reversal in attitudes which is coupled with an increase in self esteem and a heightened optimism and happiness.

Being treated in this way also can bring out the enlightened warrior, fighting back positively attitude which leads to a search for personal growth and self improvement, to achieve a reversal in attitudes which is coupled with an increase in self esteem and a heightened optimism and happiness.

“Self-esteem is the Enamel of Success”

When we experience pride in ourselves, when we earn a good grade on an exam or reach a personal goal. The ability to take pleasure in our achievements is a big reason why we continue to pursue our dreams and take risks. This pride and pleasure we experience called self-esteem is very important to reaching our life and career goals.

What is Self esteem?
Self-esteem is a feeling of competence and capability to deal with life’s challenges and deserving happiness and fulfillment. Our self-esteem reflects our overall self-appraisal of our own worth.

There are two inseparable components to self-esteem: self-efficacy and self-respect.

Self-efficacy is the trust in our mental processes and abilities.
It does not mean that we believe we will never make a mistake, but rather that when we do make them we can learn from them. This goes deeper than confidence in a specific knowledge or skill. It is the ability to make our own decisions.

Our self-efficacy is nurtured from childhood in a rational, predictable home environment where we grow to understand what is around us.

Self-respect is the belief that we have an inherent value and that we will have friendship, love and happiness. It is our realization that we deserve the respect of others that our well-being is worthwhile supporting, protecting and nurturing.

Both Self-efficacy and self-respect are necessary to healthy self-esteem. No matter what achievements we have accomplished, if we feel unworthy of the love and respect of others, we have lowered self-esteem.

SELF-ESTEEM: TEN THINGS TO REMEMBER

1. “Our lives are shaped by those who love us and by those who refuse to love us”
2. Emotions – As children, some of us are taught not to be angry, not to cry, not to be afraid. We need to accept the full range of our emotions.
3. Thoughts precede feelings. If I change what I say to myself, my feelings will be more positive.
4. Never try to please someone who can’t be pleased.
5. Learn how to ask for what you want.
6. Be able to say “no.”
7. What we say to ourselves is what matters. “No matter what you say or do to me, I am still a worthwhile person.”
8. We are all imperfect with general limitations and specific fallibilities.
9. “Self-esteem is a sickness if it gives me approval for good acts but condemns me if I fail.” — Albert Ellis
10. Become active and self-directing. Take charge of your life

Do the things you love, and love the things you do.

How does our self-esteem begin to fall?
Typically it is rooted in childhood when we may have experienced various blows to the ego. Resulting from a lack of affection from loved ones, a lack of recognition, having being ridiculed by peers, abandonment, etc.

Once low self-esteem has taken residence, the fear and anxiety that accompany nearly everything you do, say and think. It can destroy our lives, and has a negative impact on our relationships with others.

Anyone suffering from low self-esteem and the many symptoms that accompany it can benefit from nurturing therapies. Full body aromatherapy massage and the coupling of custom aromatherapy blends with coaching or therapy can greatly boost one’s self-esteem.

Creating the appropriate aromatic blends depends on which symptoms appear at the surface. In today’s article, we will focus on custom blends for those whose low self-esteem appears as depression, anger, anxiety, fear, and timidity.

“Our self-image is very important, in good shape; we can do anything, or achieve anything.”

When we feel good about ourselves, we have the endorphin to succeed. Conversely the reverse is also true. If we have a poor self-image, it is unlikely we reach true fulfillment. In actuality, poor self-esteem is often the root issue of those fears, anxieties, panic attacks, addictions, relationship difficulties and many others that make us feel unable to succeed in life.
